I will challenge my suspension in court, says Sanusi

Malam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, removed today by President Goodluck Jonathan as governor of Nigeria’s Central Bank says he will mount a legal challenge against his suspension.
And he says he is not doing it because he wants to go back to the job, but because he wants to protect the independence of the institution.

He spoke today on his arrival from Niamey, Niger, in an interview with SaharaTV.
In the interview, he dismissed the welter of accusations against him as announced in his suspension order, “as a set of stories”, saying that he has nothing to hide and that in any case, the CBN will on its own respond to a number of the issues raised.
He insisted that while the CBN accounts are audited every year, the last audit done for the NNPC was in 2005.
He insisted that the NNPC still owes the national treasury $20 billion in unremitted proceeds from crude oil sales and wondered why he was suspended because he raised the issue.
“The message being sent across is that “if you attack us, we’ll deal with you”.
