Wayne Rooney signed a new £85.8million deal with Manchester United


Manchester United prolific striker Wayne Rooney yesterday, boosted the spirit of United football family by agreeing to see out the remaining of his football career at United. culled from the Mirror. 

"This is a new era for the club, we have a new management team and a great new manager in David Moyes," he says after putting pen to paper on 300k-a-week deal Wayne Rooney signed a new 85.8million deal with Manchester United because he believes they are heading back to the top.

The staggering new contract makes Rooney the highest-paid player in the Premier League and will see the England international see out the final years of his career at United.

Despite United facing the prospect of missing out on the Champions League for the first time in 19 years, Rooney is convinced they are heading in the right direction under David Moyes.

"This is a new era for the club, we have a new management team and a great new manager in David Moyes, there has to be some time for change.

Rooney's new deal means he is likely to surpass Sir Bobby Charlton as United's all-time leading goalscorer.
